VLOG Newsletter 07/25 .:. November

Dear readers,

more than half of the people in Germany know about the “Ohne GenTechnik”  [Non GMO] seal already. In October, we launched a Germany-wide campaign to further increase awareness of the seal and the issue.

Yesterday, the International Non-GM Soy Conference sent a strong signal of the “Ohne Gentechnik” sector from Frankfurt, and at the beginning of October, the fair trade Anuga made a clear appeal to German Minister of Agriculture Alois Rainer for strong GMO regulations. His ministry is well aware of the economic importance of our sector, as we learned during a meeting with State Secretary Prof Dr Dr Markus Schick.

Meanwhile, consultations on new regulations for new genetic techniques (NGT) are continuing in Berlin and Brussels. The next round of the so-called trilogue negotiations between the EU Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers is scheduled for 13 November. The Danish Presidency would then like to reach an agreement. We will keep you up to date.

We wish you an interesting read!

Campaign launched for the "Ohne GenTechnik" seal: Do you know what you're eating?

The Association for Food without Genetic Engineering (VLOG) has launched a Germany-wide campaign to increase consumer awareness of the "Ohne GenTechnik" (Non-GMO) seal.

One in two people are familiar with the "Ohne GenTechnik" seal

Just over half of people in Germany are familiar with the "Ohne GenTechnik" (Non-GMO) seal. With 52 percent, the green diamond ranks in the middle of the pack in terms of seal awareness.

Strong signal: Non-GM Soy Conference in Frankfurt

The Non-GM Soy Conference 2025 has clearly shown that the European Non-GMO sector is strong, active and vital. Robust standards and reliable certification systems remain crucial to ensure trust, transparency, and stability in volatile markets.

Constructive exchange between VLOG and State Secretary for Agriculture Markus Schick

During a dialogue at the German Ministry of Agriculture, the Association for Food without Genetic Engineering (VLOG) was able to convey the economic importance of "Ohne Gentechnik" (Non-GMO) to State Secretary Prof Dr Dr Markus Schick and explain what is important for the industry in the upcoming new EU GMO regulations.

New VLOG service on EU experimental releases and the Rapid Alert System

38 approved experimental releases with genetically modified plants in seven European countries, 34 reports in the RASFF rapid alert system: VLOG provides information on the risks of GMO contamination for "Ohne Gentechnik" value chains.

Appeal to the Minister of Agriculture: The industry needs strong GMO regulations!

The food industry continues to need strong, reliable regulations for labelling and coexistence for new genetic engineering (NGT). The industry addressed this message directly to the German Minister of Agriculture, Alois Rainer (CSU), at the Anuga food fair in Cologne.
