Dear Readers,

the debate about the future of GMO regulation in the EU is gaining momentum again. Contrary to the plans of the EU Commission, an overwhelming majority of Germans still want labelling and risk assessment for new GMOs as well. A new legal opinion shows that the planned deregulation would even be illegal.

In addition to consumers and the environment, the great successes of the "Non GMO" and organic food industry would be threatened. These include the consistently high share of GMO-free milk in Germany. This topic, among others, will also occupy us at the upcoming food fair Anuga 2023.
