Non-GMO Summit: Conference of the European "Non-GMO" Industry
German Federal Minister of Agriculture Alois Rainer (CSU), Austrian State Secretary for Consumer Protection Ulrike Königsberger-Ludwig (SPÖ) and Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Taras Vystoskyi will open the key economic conference of the "Ohne Gentechnik" (Non-GMO) sector with opening messages (via video), followed by a keynote speech by Tina Andres, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the German Organic Food Industry Association (BÖLW) the German umbrella organisation of organic farmers, food processors, and retailers.
Subsequently, presentations and panel debates featuring experts from the worlds of business, academia, market research, politics, public authorities and industry associations will provide an up-to-date analysis of the latest legal and market status, whilst offering the industry an opportunity for discussion and networking regarding these new and complex market developments. The conference will focus on the impact of the anticipated new legal framework on production and certification, the consistently high level of consumer rejection, and current progress in the development of detection methods for NGT. With the presentation of the latest "New GMOs Report", the conference will provide a comprehensive overview of the current global market for NGT products.
This year’s Non-GMO Summit is the key opportunity for the entire "Ohne Gentechnik" and Organic value chain to discuss what the new EU regulations on New Genetic Engineering (NGT) mean for them, and how the sector can continue to effectively and reliably exclude both "old" and "new" genetic engineering from its production chains.
Key topics:
• How can "Ohne Gentechnik" certification in Europe continue to reliably exclude all forms of genetic engineering following a possible deregulation of NGT?
• Presentation of the newly launched "New GMOs Report" – Which NGT products are already on the market worldwide? And what developments can be expected in the coming years?
• What progress has been made in the development of detection methods for NGT?
• What opportunities and market potential could the "Ohne Gentechnik" label open up in the future, particularly for plant-based products?
The Non-GMO Summit is a joint event organised by the "Non-GMO" associations most relevant to the European market: The European Non-GMO Industry Association (ENGA), the Association Food without Genetic Engineering (VLOG), the Platform for GMO-free Food Products (ARGE Gentechnik-frei), Donau Soja and the ProTerra Foundation.
